The Jan van Es Institute has a connection with Europe, through a cooperation with the European Forum for Primary Care (EFPC). This cooperation provides us with insights from and towards the network of the EFPC worldwide.
Together with the EFPC the Jan van Es Institute will organize conferences, study visits and publish the biweekly newsflash. As a first shared action, the development of the EFPC Position Paper on Inter-professional education/training for Primary Care professionals will be coordinated by Ms Loes van Amsterdam.
As a result of several meetings and discussions, the Jan van Es Institute observes a need to formulate a clear vision on contemporary and future education of professionals, to facilitate inter professional and multidisciplinary collaboration in primary health care. Professional education is fragmented, often outdated, or there is a mismatch of competences to population and patient needs.
In connection with this Position Paper the JVEI organizes workshops at the EFPC and other conferences in Pisa, Graz, Vienna (WONCA) and in Gothenburg with a high level of international stakeholders coming from different parts of Europe.
In the future also other research projects of the JVEI institute, like the SMOEL project which monitors the collaboration levels of Primary Care providers within the Netherlands.
An International Summer School in Almere on the topic of Integrated Primary Care will take place in the summer of 2013 which will include the expertise of both organizations: JVEI and EFPC. For more information and applications: Summer School
More and more the JVEI institute will be involved in international exchange of Primary Care expertise as the EFPC organizes on a regular basis Study Visits for groups of foreign scientists, policy makers or practitioners who want to learn about the Dutch Primary Care system and more in particularly the Almere and JVEI approach when it comes to integrated Primary Care.
